TUESDAY

Stopped in at the two nearest Goodwills today since it's Tuesday and there's a senior discount and found three belts and a middle eastern style tunic dress, all appropriate to add to Goldkey. Back at home spent the late afternoon and evening sewing up the four white cotton undertunics and re-hemmed the muslin undertunic from Goldkey to have 'em ready for Cattle Raids this month.

WEDNESDAY

Took a couple pieces of fabric I'd picked up last month and got them ready to be worn as Saxon tube dresses. I'll probably keep these for myself but they're ready to be used at Cattle Raids with Goldkey if they're needed.

Got out to visit the half price clothing sale at the thrift store, found a pair of white linen drawstring pants and a purple linen shirt. This evening was A&S where I took advantage to discuss Cattle Raids scheduling with Natalya and Zino.

Back at home I worked on the peach linen open-sided surcoat trying to make it wearable. The seams were so mis-alligned I ended up taking out all the neckline and armhole seams to re-sew it and now it's coming along pretty well actually.

And at the very end of my day we drove half an hour north of town just after midnight to see if any of the northern lights were showing this far south. I'm sorry to report they were not. It was a pretty, clear night though and the stars were splendid.

FRIDAY

This morning I finished my new shift, then put away the sewing stuff. I had offered to take on some of Leofwyna's to do list as she's busy getting ready to leave on her trip in a couple days. Took her van to the mechanic to get the brake lights fixed and stopped at Family Dollar to pick up the list of stuff she'd noted was on sale this week. She'd also noted that my preferred laundry detergent was on sale at Walmart but I'd just as soon wait until it's on sale somewhere else even if it's not as big a price cut; I don't like that place.

WEDNESDAY

Delivered the Runestaff and broccoli to Gyda this morning then spent time this afternoon getting the flyer printed out and duplicated to include in it. This evening I went out to Walt Library park for the social moot and started distributing the Runestaffs. I got to visit with Isadora about noon inn for Cattle Raids; no one else is stepping up for it so she'll probably be doing it. Zino and Vasilla are set to handle MOY.

THURSDAY

Sewed up Leofwyna's skirt and hemmed up the sleaves on her new blue top. Ran out to Hancocks to pick up some black elastic to finish the waist of the skirt. We went to supper at the China Buffet when she came home from Shelly's. Back at home I started sewing up s piece of what I think is linen/cotton for a new shift as a swatch burned to soft ash.

THURSDAY

Mowed two-thirds of the lawn this afternoon. It's hot but the weather channel shows it getting even hotter the next couple days then raining Sunday. Made potato salad and picked homegrown broccoli for salad to go with Leofwyna's chicken for supper. Leofwyna has cleared off the craft table downstairs; guess that's my clue to start sewing her cruise clothes since there's only a week and a half left until she's off. Got her measured up and cut out the top of the two-piece dress I'll be making her.

SUNDAY

Got laundry done today... five loads altogether.  Also went to walk the shar peis midday.  Thought about stopping at Goodwill for the senior sale but decided not to.

MONDAY

Walked the shar peis again midday.  Got the entire lawn watered.  Poked around in the garage some.

Weather projections for the coming work is exceedingly grim.  After some discussion we've decided the next rummage will have to wait until after the June busy plans.  Leofwyna really hates doing a summer rummage 'cause of the heat but it's gotta happen.

TUESDAY

Got up early enough to call and cancel the rummage ad.  Now, no doubt, the rain will not happen but you gotta go with the information you have I suppose.

Sewed up the red and blue Halftroll tunic... looks way too big so it'll probably fit just fine.  Leofwyna grilled rib steaks and we watched Cars on Dougs bigscreen TV.  We walked the dogs together before I headed home.

THURSDAY

In addition to continuing the lawn watering protocol I cut out HalfTroll's red linen tunic so I could return the example tunic in time to be worn this weekend at Marshall.  Turns out the red linen is not quite enough so much brain exercise was required to come up with a solution to clear with Gyda tonight at FiberArts.  I'll dig a blue linen shirt out of the stash and use it for facing and hems on the tunic.  I was late leaving home so I scrambled to get Natalya's signature on barony checks and returning a Redbox movie.  Stopped only briefly at FiberArts to hand off the old tunic to Gyda and say hi to our newest member, Jessica, and Sash.  Finished up at Carlos' with the flyer check and fund transfer form and asked him to have Isabeau call me with information necessary to include on the letter for insurance certificates for fighting and equiestrian at Cattle Raid which will probably get into the mail Saturday.

TUESDAY

Spent the day very quietly... didn't feel awfully sick but my glands were tight and I was lathargic.  Did cut the light grey wool I'd had in my workbasket for the last several months.

WEDNESDAY

Sewed sewed up the grey cote and trimmed it at neck and sleaves with violet-rose 'shirt tim'.  I'll need to get Leofwyna to mark the hem for me later.  Leofwyna got things organized and asked me to help her carry up her chest of drawers from the guest bedroom to her bedroom.  Then we carried in Little Sister's black lacquered chest of drawers and got it down into the guest room.  It's just a good thing they weren't a single pound heavier than they were and yes, we did take out the drawers to carry separately.  I went this evening to A&S where discussed the play for the JAV demo and A&S competitions in upcoming events.

THURSDAY

Today I pulled everything out of the acquisition corner of my bedroom... literally the entire quarter of my bedroom where parcels were piled hip-deep from the past six years of thrift store purchases.  I took everything out of the bags and sorted according to fiber or use.  It's all piled now three feed deep on my twin-size bed.  When I was thoroughly worm out from the sorting I grabbed the half dozen 'trim' shirts and went downstairs to watch television and start cutting them up to go into the 'trim' tin.  I'm contemplating sleeping on the couch rather than clearing the bed at this time although the couch would need to be cleared too.

Anyway, the piles on my bed consist of half a dozen leather skirts, a dozen silk shirts, half a dozen wool skirts, a 3-foot deep stack of linen and cotton-linen shirts, skirts, pants and dresses, a similar stack of cotton shirts, three bed-skirts, half a dozen cotton broomstick skits, half a dozen decorative vests and finally a 3-foot stack of yardage, tablecloths, shower curtains of appropriate for garb fibers.  Oh my!

At this point I must interject that this is the last six  year's accumulation of thrift store finds... less the few things I've actually already put to use.  This does not include the similar sort of stuff I have already boxed up in storage (and probably every bit at much if not more in volume) from prior to the last six years.  I really need to get stuff organized so I can actually put it to use.

TUESDAY

Got a late start Tuesday but in addition to cleaning the kitchen and doing up a load of laundry I did get the new blue tunic cut out and the embroidered (recycled) neckline facing finished.  Still need to find and mount trim and finish the sideseams and hem.  Should be able to finish it in time for coronation this weekend.  Gotta dig around in the stash and find that trim and the wool-blend for the new apron dress which I'd also like to have done before the weekend so I can have choices!

WEDNESDAY

Took Little Sister's shoes to the consignment shop today... two big boxes full but she only accepted three pair and indicated four more that could come back next season.  That leaves an awful lot of orphaned shoes; anyone wear 8 1/2 or 9 narrow?  Stopped in at Earl Mays' to get seeds for this years veggie beds; got mixed lettuce (musclen?), radish, beans, squash, spinach, brocolli, parsnip, nasturtiums and probably more I don't remember what.

Moot was tonight and I stopped in at Sash's after to get my music CD which has been lost.  It probably got mixed in with Gerald's computer stuff when he was last there.  Eleanore, I need a copy of the music CD, please.

Back at home I was determined to finish the blue tunic and was trying to decide on the trim but nothing was working until Leofwyna gave me one of her 'trim' shirts for a nicer finish for the blue tunic.  Got it finished but for the hem.

THURSDAY

Called Diana and made arrangements for a ride to Coronation Friday night.   Sounds like most of MagMor will be there this weekend.

Two boxes of summer clothes have surfaced so I got those on hangers today; mostly pants and little knit tops.   When Leofwyna got home from work I had her mark the hem on the blue tunic and got that finished so I can wear it this weekend.

Leofwyna and I have been pricing stuff almost daily for a community rummage sale in April.  It'll be indoors so weather won't matter.  It'll be a bit of an investment for the space but hopefullly this early sale will get rid of a pile of stuff.

FRIDAY

Got the last of the handsewing done on Ducky's surcote and Viking Coat and let Emalye know they were ready.  They both came to pick the rest of the things up.  Ducky was delighted with the Viking Coat.  The surcote is a little long but he'll belt it.  He has the option of having me shorten it later on if he feels it's necessary.  I also insisted he borrow a wool blanket with instructions to use it *under* the bottom sheet as I've found that's where the cold comes in at night.  I'll make Sash take one too when I deliver my gray mantle for him to use.

While they were here I suggested Emalye have me make the leftover wool into a woman's Viking caftan.  She thinks that's a good idea as she's going to Gulf War and will need something warm.  Perhaps I'll get to make up her tunic and apron dress too, hmm?

I spent the rest of the evening leisurely stripping out more of the cotton samples...  Yes, they're still taking time.  A little most every evening until my hand cramps up and I switch over to the computer.  Progress is being made however; someday this winter I'll be able to put together a few more of 'those' quilt tops and deliver them from the house.

WEDNESDAY

I worked on Ducky's heavy coat through the afternoon.  Whipped throiugh the kitchen cleanup before going to A&S in the evening but since the paint for the silk banners hadn't arrived we ended up having a farble about current projects.  Stopped at Office Max on the way home; needed canned air to clean the sewing machines and the serger.  Back at home we watched Dances with Wolves while I finished up the machine work on the heavy coat and the sideless surcote.

TUESDAY

What did I do today?  Hmm... since Leofwyna got put on call I carefully kept quiet downstairs until she woke up.  Then I started another load of wash before heading out to the fabric store to pick up twill tape, thread and mock horn buttons to finish Ducky's new wardrobe.  I stopped to eat lunch and then at the Goodwill where I found some neat Indonesian fabric for my quilting stash, or maybe I'll use it to make camping pillowcases.  When I got back home Leofwyna was eager for me to go with her to get signatures notarized to get legal things proceeding.  And back at home again I got onto the next phase of sewing...

Using 2" wide upholstery cotton twill I made drawstrings for Ducky's pants.  I fold it lengthwise in thirds, stitch up both edges and voila!  Makes really nice drawstrings.  I also seamed up the shoulders of the sideless surcote of a cozily heavy wool.  I'm binding the edges of the sideless surcote with cotton-linen strips cut from one of the shirts I've picked up to avoid bulking up the hems.  Oh bother!  I forgot to get back to the laundry... more tomorrow.

MORE TUESDAY

Told Leofwyna about the tapestry loveseat and couch I saw at Goodwill Monday; I t hink she's going to check them over tomorrow.  She wants 'em for the living room if they're in good enough shape.  Oh my, the amount of furniture we'll have in the garage for a Spring rummage sale.  Clearly the vehicles will have to sit out in the weather for awhile.  I picked Leofwyna up from auto service so she could leave the van for maintenance tomorrow; took her to Village Inn for supper as she was so tired she couldn't decide on what to eat.   I introduced her to the 'improved' strawberry crepes; borrowing orange sauce from something on the special menu.

WEDNESDAY

Sewed stripe pants and camel flannel pants for Murdoch while Leofwyna borrowed my car for her errands.  When I  had my car back I got my hair cut, picked up some stamps, stopped in at the computor lab and went to A&S but had forgotten to mark out the wings on the banner and had finished the beast so was unable to use the time embroidering.  Didn't work on bookbinding as I hadn't brought the tools for that.  Leofwyna loves the couch and loveseat; she already paid for them so I must pick 'em up tomorrow while she's at work.

THURSDAY

Picked up my prescriptions, arranged for help (Marty and Toni) to pick up couch and loveseat, sewed up Murdoch's tunic and went to the computor lab.  Toni wants to include some stuff when we have our rummage; I must remember to let her know the date once it's decided.
