SUNDAY

Leofwyna is acquainted with a young woman who is training to be a massage therapist and wants to have her 'experience' sessions completed when she finishes the course.  In order to do this she is already booking appointments with volunteers so Leofwyna got both of us on her calender to surprise me.  So today we each got a full body relaxation massage and I must say it was wonderful.  She is really good.

Last January, a friend of Little Sister gave us a gift card to Outback and we decided to use it today.  We had babyback ribs and our meal was wonderful.  Not only that but Outback is much closer than Chili's where we usually go for that sort of meal.  This is good to know.

Leofwyna was on a roll.  Next on her agenda was a movie and as everything was relatively relaxing and restful I had no good reason not to go along with her plan.  We went to see Race to Witch Mountain which was a light, fun adventure by Disney.  I vaguely remember seeing at least one of the former Witch Mountain movies many, many years ago.

The day was not complete without a stop at 31 Flavors for ice cream... I had a chocolate shake that went down very easily but I was ready to go home.  Mostly the cold is sneezing and drips but at least I can breath; I just have no energy to speak of.  It was a good day though.

You have Baskin-Robbins? Cool! They were *the* ice cream place when I was growing up in Cleveland.

Now...what is the equivalent of say, Friendly's? I ask because it's looking increasingly likely that I will be visiting Lincoln sometime this summer...:)

There's only one 31 flavors left here and that's out near the Interstate and only served 10-12 flavors at a time but that's better than nothing though there's some flavors I liked I'll probably never see again.

I looked at the Friendly's website for the sake of comparison and we have maybe alternatives... Village Inn or International House of Pancakes for breakfasts, Rockin' Robin, Applebys, Red Lobster, Chili's and Outback for later in the day. But there's also Valentino's Pizza and Tico's which are local delicacies you might want to discover too.

Lookin' forward to sharing Lincoln with you and vice versa!

You have IHOP? We have those, too, plus Chili's, Outback, and Applebee's. I haven't seen a Red Lobster around here, but we're close enough to the coast that most of the local places serve scrod (white fish, usually cod, pollack, or haddock). Do you have a Panera anywhere around? Or Ruby Tuesday's?

Ice cream...we're lucky. There are two incredible local ice cream parlors that make their own ice cream fresh every day: Herrell's and Bart's. We also have a lot of Chinese restaurants, many Italian places (often run by Greeks, curiously enough), and a sprinkling of good Polish/Central European places. And of course there's the usual college town organic/vegetarian restaurants, one of which is quite good.

What about used bookstores? I have more books than almost anyone else I know, but what's a few more? ;)

I haven't been but I'm pretty sure there's Panera and I know there's Ruby Tuesday's. For Chinese I like Imperial Palace and House of Hunan... Leofwyna likes a couple of the Chinese buffets, too. For Greek locally there's good gyros at a little shop downtown.

For used books there's Bluestem and A Novel Idea

Seriously, what a marvelous place it seems to be! I've already signed up for their mailing list. I'll definitely have to leave room in my suitcase this summer!
